The “Volcanic Cane Smash”

Some cocktails sparkle. This one erupts.

The Volcanic Cane Smash is a fiery twist on the classic rum smash — built around Hot Shots Spiced Rum Liqueur, fresh sugarcane juice, and charred citrus. It’s bold, earthy, and perfect for beach bonfires, founder-led tastings, or rituals that begin with a spark and end with a roar.

The Volcanic Cane Smash

Ingredients:

  • 45ml Hot Shots Spiced rum.

  • 30ml fresh sugarcane juice (or raw sugar syrup) 

  • 15ml lime juice

  • 10ml charred orange syrup (see below)

  • Dash of smoked bitters

  • Ice + charred citrus wheel or sugarcane stick garnish

Charred Orange Syrup: Grill orange slices until caramelized, then simmer with 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water for 5 minutes. Cool and strain.

Ritual

Before shaking, hold the sugarcane garnish to your lips and say the name of a place that made you feel powerful. Shake hard, pour over crushed ice, and sip while standing barefoot on stone or sand. 

Founder’s Note

This cocktail was born on the slopes of Piton de la Fournaise — volcanic heat, sugarcane fields, and a moment that felt primal. I wanted something that tasted like eruption in a glass. The smash is the force. The burn is the echo.
